5. Does PPF scratch?

PPF can develop light surface marks, but Eclipse Schutz PPF features self-healing technology that uses heat (sunlight or warm water) to make minor scratches disappear automatically.

9. Can PPF be applied over existing paint damage?

PPF should be applied to paint in good condition. Existing scratches, oxidation, or chips should be corrected before installation to prevent trapping imperfections under the film permanently.

Color PPF FAQs

11. What is Color PPF?

Color PPF is a paint replacement solution that changes your vehicle’s colour while simultaneously protecting the original paint beneath. Available in matte, satin, gloss, and metallic finishes.

12. Is Color PPF the same as vinyl wrap?

No. Color PPF is significantly superior to vinyl wrap. It offers self-healing technology, anti-yellowing properties, and genuine paint protection. Vinyl wrap is purely cosmetic with no protective properties.

13. Can Color PPF be removed to return to original colour?

Yes. Colour PPF is fully removable by a certified installer without damage to the original factory paint underneath. This makes it an excellent option for lease vehicles or owners who like to change their car’s appearance.

14. How many colour options are available?

15. How long does Colour PPF last?

Window Film FAQs

16. Is Eclipse Schutz window film JPJ compliant?

Yes. All Eclipse Schutz window films are manufactured to meet JPJ VLT (Visible Light Transmission) requirements. Our certified installers ensure compliance on every installation.

17. What VLT is required by JPJ Malaysia?

JPJ requires a minimum of 70% VLT for the windscreen and 50% VLT for front side windows. Rear windows have no legal minimum. Eclipse Schutz films are available in compliant grades for all window positions.

18. Will window film affect my GPS or Touch-n-Go?

Eclipse Schutz window films are signal-friendly and do not interfere with GPS signals, RFID systems (Touch-n-Go), Bluetooth, or mobile network reception.

19. How much heat does window film reduce?

Ceramic Coating FAQs

23. What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your vehicle’s paint, creating a hard, hydrophobic protective layer that enhances gloss, repels water and contaminants, and resists UV oxidation.

24. How long does ceramic coating last?

Eclipse Schutz ceramic coating tiers offer 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year performance warranties. Actual durability depends on maintenance frequency and environmental exposure.

25. Does ceramic coating prevent scratches?

Ceramic coating increases paint hardness and resists light swirl marks, but it does not provide the same physical impact protection as PPF. For scratch and chip protection, PPF is the recommended solution.

26. Can ceramic coating be applied over PPF?

Absolutely. In fact, applying ceramic coating over PPF is highly recommended. It enhances the hydrophobic properties of the film, adds additional gloss, and makes the surface easier to maintain.

27. Does my car need to be paint-corrected before coating?

Yes. Ceramic coating seals whatever imperfections exist in the paint. Eclipse Schutz certified installers include a thorough decontamination and paint correction process before every coating application.

28. How do I maintain ceramic-coated paint?

Use a pH-neutral car shampoo. Avoid automatic brush car washes. Rinse the car regularly in Malaysia’s dusty and polluted environment. Annual coating maintenance services by Eclipse Schutz-certified installers are recommended to rejuvenate the coating.

29. What does the Eclipse Schutz PPF warranty cover?

Our PPF warranty covers yellowing, cracking, delamination, lifting, and manufacturing defects. It does not cover damage caused by improper maintenance, accidents, or deliberate misuse.

30. How do I register my warranty?

Warranty registration is completed through your certified Eclipse Schutz installer at the time of installation. You will receive a digital warranty certificate for your records.

31. Is the warranty transferable to a new owner?

Yes. Eclipse Schutz warranties are transferable to a subsequent vehicle owner, which can enhance the resale value of your vehicle. Transfer must be formally registered with Eclipse Schutz.

32. What voids the warranty?

Improper maintenance (use of abrasive compounds, pressure washing at film edges), installation by non-certified workshops, and physical damage from accidents will void the product warranty.

33. How long does PPF installation take?

Partial front PPF takes approximately 1–2 days. Full-body PPF installation typically requires 3–5 days depending on vehicle complexity. Your vehicle will be treated with full care and attention throughout.

34. Can I drive my car immediately after PPF installation?

We recommend waiting at least 24–48 hours before washing the car and avoiding direct high-pressure water on edges for 7 days. Your installer will provide full post-installation care instructions.

35. Do I need to prepare my car before bringing it in?

We recommend a basic clean, but Eclipse Schutz certified installers perform full decontamination before installation as part of the standard service. Please inform us of any existing paint damage during your consultation.

Maintenance FAQs

42. Can I use a commercial car wash after PPF installation?

Touchless car washes are acceptable. Avoid brush-type automatic car washes as the brushes can cause micro-scratches and may lift film edges. Hand washing with a microfibre mitt is recommended.

43. What car shampoo should I use on PPF?

Use a pH-neutral car shampoo. Avoid degreasers, solvent-based products, and anything containing wax with PTFE, as these can leave residue on the film surface.

44. How often should I wax or coat PPF?

PPF does not require waxing. If you have ceramic coating applied over PPF, follow the ceramic coating maintenance schedule. A PPF-specific spray detailer can be applied periodically to boost hydrophobic performance.

45. What should I do if my PPF gets damaged?

Minor scratches will self-heal. For deeper damage, contact your Eclipse Schutz certified installer for a panel or section replacement under warranty or at a standard service fee.
